AlfaMag's standard low profile PC mount transformers are manufactured to the highest quality standard possible, in an IS/ISO 9001:2000 appoved facility. All ranges are approved to UL5085-1 Low Voltage Transformers, and VDE 61558-1 (except for 2x22V models), and bear the CE mark. The use of a UL recognized Class F insulation system (155°C) ensures these standards are met, and the transformers are capable of withstanding elevated ambient temperatures of up to 100°C.
Our print transformers are fully encapsulated within a very attractive plastic housing. They are designed for PCB mounting, with the additional security of a central screw receptable that will accomodate either M4/M5 metric machine screws, or self-tapping types. This allows the transformer to be secured to the PCB prior to soldering.
Advantages:
AlfaMag print transformers offer many advantages over traditional E-I or U-I types. Because the cores are produced from a continuous strip of high grade silicon steel, and the windings are placed concentrically around the core, many advantages can be realized. This is the ideal magnetic path, lacking air gaps or discontinuities thereby optimizing the use of magnetic flux for power transformation and significantly reducing idling currents when the load is removed. Other advantages are:
- Low profile
- Low magnetic field radiation
- Acoustic noise virtually eliminated
- Small size
- High efficiency
- Low leakage losses
- High isolation (4000VAC primary to secondary)
In addition, the unique case design allows sufficient space to incorporate various other components with the transformer to complete a single homogenous unit. PTC thermistors, fuses, resettable thermal switches, rectifiers, and voltage regulators are common additions to the transformer package.
Applications:
AlfaMag's print transformers meet today's requirements for small size, low magnetic interference, and improved efficiency. Modern production techniques make it possible to produce these highly efficient transformers at prices that are competitive with conventional types. This makes them particularly desirable for a wide range of applications including professional audio equipment, computer peripherals, compact linear power supplies, medical equipment, and lighting.
